When she was little she'd happily sit/lay/stand and let me take photos, as many as I wanted. Nowadays it is not the same. She wants to be on the other side of the camera, and she is not shy to let me know when she it not in the mood to have her photo taken. Lately that's been most of the time, and I find the best time to photograph her is while she's got her mind on something else, and I get to snap away until she becomes aware of the click-click of the shutter and wants to get behind the camera too. I let her press the shutter and let her choose what she wants to take photos of, but she wants to have the camera all to herself and that is not going to happen. As much as I'd like to see what she'd capture by herself, I cannot let her handle my camera.
So I've been thinking of getting her her own camera. I've seen those toy cameras in the toyshop, but they are only one or two megapixels and the picture quality is less than mediocre. So I decided she wouldn't get one of those. I mean, I want to be able to save those photos for her to see when she's older, and I want them to be a bit better quality than grainy two megapixels. I mean, what if she got a great shot and we wanted to blow it up on canvas for her? Couldn't do that with such a low picture quality.
I also want a point and shoot for us to take when we go on little outings but don't want to or can't lag around my huge camera. If we're at a beach, or in wet of freezing conditions I would like to be active and take part in whatever is going on AND still take photos without worrying about the lens or camera body getting damaged. I haven't tried them yet, but there are a range of cameras that handle all possible scenarios, and when I learnt they are also shock proof from as high as two metres I thought we could get clever here. What about getting one of those cameras for those outings when the big camera isn't needed or could get damaged, and also let miss two borrow it when she wants to take photos, AND get great picture quality? I am this close to ordering one on ebay (way too exy in the shops here I think) but I don't know which camera to choose yet. I will do some more research and let you know when I order one which one it is and let you know if I'm happy with it.
In the meantime, here are some photos of my, as the title says: little miss Atti-two-de demanding I take photos of her feet, not her face:
