Written on a Sunday

Sunday 20 November 10:28am: It's a quiet while here at the house, with bigsis out and about with her grandmother, and littlesis asleep next to me in the bouncer. Last night was a good one, as littlesis didn't wake up until 4am for a feed, and then again at six-ish before bigsis woke up and we got up just before seven. Seven used to sound early, but with the run of 5.30am starts we've had lately it feels like a bit of luxury to get to stay in bed that long.

Later today my plans for us is to take some props and head up to a mountain to get some Christmas card photos done. Hopefully our models are up for it, but my guess is at least our big model will be. Taking photos outside makes it so much easier to capture moments where the children are just interacting with their surroundings in the most natural way. I am really looking forward to it, and despite the total lack of late-November weather (it's been very mild and no sign of any wintery weather so far with the exeption of a couple of frosty mornings - suits me fine by the way), we will try to get our Christmas spirit on and start thinking about planning the coming weeks. (I started my Christmas shopping online and am very happy with the progress so far. This year the only place you'll find me in the shopping centre in the week before Christmas is at the coffee shop, laughing at everyone stressing out getting their last minute gifts - yep that's right. Yeah Right.)

...

Monday 21 November 10:22pm: The house is quiet. Bigsis is asleep in our bed, and little sis is asleep in her bouncer. She is usually in her own bed by now, but tonight she woke up as I put her in bed, so she came out with me and I bounced her. She's snoring now, she's soundly asleep. In a few minutes I'll take her to bed, and hopefully we'll all have a good night's sleep.

I look forward to being able to sleep a little longer in the mornings because then I can stay up later. I am actually past my bedtime by half an hour already, normally I am asleep by ten. After getting severely sleep deprived after having littlesis I made a deal with myself not to push myself when it came to getting enough rest. Sure, I have the occasional night where I'll stay up a little longer, like tonight, but most nights I am in bed by ten. And despite waking up a few times during the night to feed littlesis, and getting up at around six most mornings, I actually don't feel too sleepy throughout the day. Sleep is good for many things, and as long as the kids are young any beauty sleep is out, but just enough sleep is in, I'm good. Keeps me doing a decent job of being a mother I think, and that is a thousand times more important than being beautiful. (Did I mention my current beauty scheme in the morning is (as I am on my way out the door to take bigsis to kindy) leaning from the hall into the the bathroom to take a look in the mirror and (with my finger) wipe off any mascara that might be stuck under my eye from sleeping? It's the truth. At least sort of.)

The photos we took yesterday turned out well, but I am behind in posting, so I'll leave you with two from the past few weeks for now.

Hi, Thanks for your lovely comments and lovely to virtually meet you. Your blog is awesome. You know, you've inspired me to pick up the park blog again. We got so busy and stopped travelling outside of our comfort zone to find new parks but you've inspired me! Perhaps we should hit a park together when you are in town? Again, love your blog. Have subscribed now too!

Ooh, last comment was from Tricia @ theitchyeyes.net by the way. Expected to be able to leave my name but it took me through to my gmail which is not my name at all :-)

Takk for svar!
Klem
